You think Jesus ever asked MJ how to Moonwalk???

When I was young Michelangelo from the Ninja Turtle fame was my hero. I mimicked his every move, and at a time I thought I was him. From the nunchucks to the pizza. I still like pizza by the way. As I grew up it moved on to Walter Payton and Deion Sanders. It was all innocent, it never got to the point where they took the place of God. There is nothing wrong with having a level of admiration for someone that you are fond of. Weather it be an athlete, singer, actor, teacher or astronaut its all healthy. The problem comes when we forget where those people we look up to got there gifts from in the first place. God blessed these people with the tools and the opportunities that turned them into the people that made us gain admiration for them. The glory has to go to God. Idolization of these people can be a dangerous thing. Our God is a merciful and loving God, but he is also a selfish God when it comes to sharing our attention. There is know room in our walk to place another near or above God in worship. We have to know when not to give these people we are fond of too much credit for things our Lord gave them. God can be jealous when it comes to our absolute attention, and to be frank he deserves all of our attention. I know moderation with people we look up to is hard in a celebrity driven society we live in, but as Christians we should not be driven by what the world is driven by. We are to be different, peculiar even. We are the example for others to see and know that something is different about us. That thing that they know is different about us that they cannot quite put their fingers on is God. God made the people we look up to the same as he made us. All of us have gifts, we all have aptitudes in different things. God made us just as he wants us, to serve him as he wants us to serve him. "Little children, keep yourselves from idols." 1 John 5:21 We are all great because we are all made in God's image. Stay thirsty my friends....

CHURCH FOLK

Has there ever been a time when you found yourself around so called church people and all they did was judge you? How did it make you feel? Sometimes people get excited about the word and all the new things they are learning and are eager to share. There is nothing wrong with that. It is how we share. The goal is the spread the blood of Jesus and bring as many people that are lost into blessing. We are not to be off putting and drive them away with our actions. Sometimes we get so judgemental that we forget that we were once lost ourselves. We are not here to judge others, we are here to love them and help them on a path to righteousness. "And as they continued to ask him, he stood up and said to him, Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her."( John 8:7) That is none of us, we are all sinners, as Christians we should not say we are better than those who are not Christians. We know we need help from Christ that's why we are Christians. The key to this blessing from God is to share it with as many people as possible. Let us not judge, let us help. Let us be examples to all so when they observe us they see that their is something spacial about us. Our grace that God gave us, our salvation is not a secret. It is not for a selected few. We must spread the word every opportunity we get. Pushing people away by judging them will not gain more soldiers in this holy battle we are fighting. We need as many soldiers as we can get. Use our various platforms to bring them in with love, not cast them off with hate. Stay thirsty my friends....

WAYYYYYY IN THE WATERRRRRRRRR

Yesterday marked the sacrifice that my mother made 27 years ago in pushing me out of her womb. It was not easy for Julie Davis, I will be the first to tell you that young Jason Davis had a huge head at the time of my birth. I thank her. When I was younger Mother Mitchell taught all of us in the Jr. choir the importance of the blessing we received from God. She taught us that through baptism we give ourselves the privilege of drinking from the same cup as Jesus. (Mark 10:39) I was baptized at 10 years old, but I have to admit that I was more concerned with learning to swim before I got baptized than I was concerned about the responsibilities of the act. I went on living my life, not always for the Lord. Through my many transgressions the Lord stayed in my corner. He blessed me to live 27 years in spite of me not fulfilling my end of the deal from when I was previously baptized. Three days before my birthday I was praying and decided that it is time to renew my promise with my Lord and Savior. I chose to get baptized again, because at 27 I now understand the responsibilities of getting in the water. It felt good, this time it felt right. I understood the word more at 27. I now knew what is expected of me and I am ready to hold up my end of the bargain. I say bargain because what little we have to do in order to get in Heaven is indeed a bargain! Jesus dying for our sins covered the hard work already. We are in a perfect position to benefit from Jesus' sacrifices. The baptism is the best birthday present I can ever get or give. Stay thirsty my friends....
